An Environmental Remediation Company turned to temporary structures and Sunbelt Rentals Fabric Structures to install at a de-commissioned chemical plant. The company needed a negative pressure structure to cover a retention pond that was being drained, cleaned and backfilled.
Based on the initial discussions, Sunbelt Rentals' team knew there would be a challenge with erecting a 131’ wide structure over and across a contaminated pond. The team, including Sunbelt Rentals' expert in environmental remediation started the process of obtaining an indepth look and firsthand understanding of the requirements and unique challenges of the project.
Process
Based on the initial discussions, Sunbelt Rentals' team knew there would be a challenge with erecting a 131’ wide structure over and across a contaminated pond. In order to have an indepth look and firsthand understanding of the site requirements and unique challenges of the project, Sunbelt Rentals Project Manager and Environmental Remediation expert, Mitch Holt, and Operations Manager, Gary Moe, decided to visit the site together. This step helped Sunbelt Rentals teams to better communicate obstacles and concerns to the project's Crew Leader before he arrived on site. Thus, making for a smoother start.
Solution
In the installed structure, Sunbelt Rentals provided the following products and services for the project:
- 40M x 90M (131’ x 295’) MTS™
- A full Sunbelt Rentals Team of (4) Installers
- Several temporary laborers
- Multiple Forklifts
- 90 ft. Crane
Results
Using the negative pressure environment inside the MTS™, our customer has the ability to keep the smells of the contaminated pond. Thus, eliminating the chance of infiltrating the surrounding neighborhood.
Sunbelt Rentals was successful in providing the company with a structure they needed, when they needed it, and at a fair price. Further, the project was extended over 6-months beyond original planned end date.
